This photograph circa 1928 was taken from the Bondi Hotel and is by Samuel J Hood, a photographer who was working for a number of publications of the time, including The Sydney Morning Herald and the Daily Telegraph Pictorial. He was working at a time when photographs in newspapers were still a novelty. 

Samuel opened his first studio in 1899 and was still working well into the 1950s.

Things don’t change that much. Look at those cars.
