Lloyd Kelemen Mosaic Fish Sculpture

There’s a funny story connected to this piece.

Back in the late 80’s when Lloyd was working on these mosaic sculptures for Biddigal Reserve, the metal framework for the fish was stolen from his studio in Marrickville.

The frame was subsequently spotted by a friend of Kelemen’s in the back yard of a house in Surry Hills. And so he went to “retrieve” it.

The owner of the Surry Hills place called in to ABC local radio to complain about this “theft” !

The fish, along with his fantastical friends, was installed in the reserve in 1991.
